Hallowiener.

Today is Halloween. As a 23 year old what does that look like?

9:00am. Awoken to Colin calling.

9:15 Decided to finally pee. After said pee, go downstairs

9:20 Sitting down eating blueberry pancakes that my aunt made.

11:30. Finally getting up from chair to clean plate, grab a Diet Sierra Mist (I don’t know about the pop, ok? I am staying at my aunt and uncles this weekend in Colorado and that is what they drink) and then sit back down to talk with my aunt about growing up with my mother.

12:05pm. Shower. I only do this because I need to do whites for my laundry and I am wearing white almost everything.

1:00 Make sandwhich.

1:03 Eat sandwhich.

2:00 Grab homework from bedroom

2:30 Actually do some homework (notice the 30 minutes between grabbing and starting? motivation people, it is key)

At the present: (3:30) watching football, writing this blog, thinking of grabbing some more food

Will there be dressing up at all today? No. Will there be a nap? Probably. My aunt and uncle live in Blackforest, CO. This means their nearest neighbor is about .5 miles away. Will there be trick-or-treaters? Most likely not, and if they do come, it will be by car.

Just wait you young kiddies, its not as fun as it used to be the older you get. And trust me, your body won’t be able to handle the up till 4 drinking in what was once a Snow White costume, but now resembles a slightly slutty clown suit. And the hang-overs? They get worse, not better.

Trick-or-Treat, Trick-or-Treat, I’m too old and want to sleep.

A little “get to know ya” so to speak…

Well…I hate to say it but there isn’t much to say on my own behalf about myself. I am a self-proclaimed poet. I run track and field for West Texas A&M UNiversity. I am a Mass Communications major here. I spend most of my time cooped up in a bedroom under covers writing in my notebook or taking down a quick idea on a notepad in my back pocket. I originally did not want to attend WT but I don’t think I have made a better decision in my life…oh yea, my name is Daniel Zewde too. That’s ZO-DAY to those who may need a bit of phonetic assistance.  I definitely have a lot to say about the day-to-day on-goings at WT and how much I enjoy/dislike them but I will leave things to be said at a later time and simply use this post as a sort of introductory or inaugural post.

COME ONE…COME ALL!

Check this out…seriously, you don’t want to miss this!

KWTS is hosting a live concert acoustic concert on campus on the 8th (that is a Monday!) in the new HD studio (in the FAC, broadcasting hallway)

The doors open at 6:30 the concert starts at 7.

Click on the link below to hear a preview…

This is just a small taste of things to do in the broadcasting department. A student and program director for the radio station, Ricky Mariscal, had an idea to host this show and now it is reality. Also students are doing a live taping of the show, acting as the crew, directors, the whole nine yards.

The beauty of this program is…you make it what you want. If you have a vision, create it. All of the tools are available to you…not many students can say that about their colleges.

Don’t forget…Monday, November 8th. 6:00. FAC. SEE YOU THERE!!

Its go time, people.

As this is my first post, I thought it would be appropriate to begin my journey via Buffology by talking about studying, and the importance of it.

As this is MIDTERM time here at WT (doesn’t that word, “midterm” make your skin crawl with pain as you watch your next 6 weeks of life pass you by due to your lack of doing anything academic? No? Well, it does mine. Maybe its just graduate school that does this, rather than the word “midterm”) student’s are busy studying away during all of their extra time; buying large amounts of their preferred caffeinated beverage.  Oh and fall, where the (5) leaves in the Panhandle drift ever so delicately to the perfectly mowed, perfectly watered grass. (Why are they still watering the grass? Its mid-October. Save some water for the other 6 billion people on the Earth)
Just kidding.
Its midterms here at WT which means student are starting to freak out about their lack-luster grades; questioning their professors as to why they have a C- rather than the A they swear they had. This awareness of their grades is checked at the door as they leave their classroom only to return the next time they log-in to WTClass. The weather is changing so house parties are being brought inside in the hopes that the beer-pong tables don’t ruin the carpet/hard-wood/linoleum floors that their owners will inevitably pay for at the end of their leases.

As for grad students, our research papers are beginning to weight heavily on us, mostly because our professors have begun to tell us that we should be writing them already. (Has anyone even started theirs?)

I actually went INTO the library today to get research for me to research on my research paper. I love libraries, and WT is no exception. (NERD ALERT) The ambiance in a library is one of solitute, academia, and a slight hint-of the caffeine overloaded, not showered in days kid in the back corner who you swear is twitching as he types his paper. I do my best work in a library; that my friends, is the honest truth.

Ohhh Midterms, how we loathe thee.
